Black Forest Duo

What began as Kay Overpack asking Mike Iwema to come over and practice the accordion with her has turned into an accordion duo. Kay recognized Mike’s talent, and with her knowledge of the German community near the Lincoln Square neighborhood (At 15 yo, she was the accordion player for an adult dance group called Edelweiss), she has done her best incorporating him into it. They have performed together at Oktoberfests and at Himmel’s German restaurant on Lawrence in Chicago. The type of music that Kay plays is mainly German folk music, and the type of music Mike plays is, well, everything.
